Trust and transparency

Editorial policy

QuoteFormula publishes formulas, worked examples and plain-English guidance for US contractors. This page explains who produces that material, how it is reviewed and what it deliberately does not claim.

Who produces the content

Calculator explanations and guides are produced by QuoteFormula editorial, the team responsible for the product and its published calculation contracts. We do not invent named authors, credentials, reviewer badges or industry awards. Questions about the arithmetic can be checked directly against the methodology and the formula version printed on every guide.

How content is created

Every guide starts from the same calculation contracts used by the calculators. We describe the inputs, the algebraic relationship between them, a worked example and the limits of the result. Examples use invented numbers chosen for easy arithmetic. They are labelled as illustrative and are never presented as a typical rate, a market average or a recommended price.

Where a claim depends on an external dataset, the page must name the source, the geography, the data period, the transformation and the review status. Until a source passes that review, the product does not load production wage values. The current status is documented on the data sources page.

Review and corrections

Guides are reviewed quarterly and whenever a formula, labelled assumption or source changes. Each guide shows its owner, last-reviewed date, review frequency, status and formula version. Corrections are reflected in those dates and in the version of the affected calculation, rather than hidden behind an undated update.

If an example and a calculator disagree, the published calculation contract is the authority. The arithmetic should be corrected before the copy is adjusted to match it.

Sources and data honesty

The repository separates illustrative sample data from reviewed production data. Reviewed data is not placed in the application until it has a named source, licence, data year, retrieval date, geography, occupation mapping, transformation, reviewer and limitations. The site currently ships no verified wage presets and does not claim access to live local pricing or competitor bids.

Independence and funding

QuoteFormula is free to use. The planned business model is display advertising; it is not lead generation, paid calculator placement, affiliate recommendation or a sold ranking. No advertiser or data provider reviews calculator results before publication, and no payment changes a formula or a guide's conclusion.

Calculations and AI

Prices and costs are produced by deterministic TypeScript functions published in the calculation methodology. No AI model chooses a price, estimates a wage or writes a result into the calculator. Any future use of automated assistance for editorial work must still be checked against the published formulas and source rules on this page.

What this site does not provide

QuoteFormula provides business planning tools and educational explanations. It does not provide tax, legal, accounting, payroll, insurance or investment advice, and it does not guarantee that a job will be profitable. Users must enter their own current costs and decide what commercial risk to accept.

How to evaluate a page

  • Check whether the formula is shown and whether it matches the calculator.
  • Confirm that examples are labelled illustrative, not benchmarks.
  • Read the limitations and source notes before relying on a result.
  • Compare the last-reviewed date and formula version with the current methodology.
