QuoteFormula Job Costing Workbook
Formula version: 2026.10.1

SAMPLE DATA ONLY
Every figure in this workbook is illustrative. The numbers are not market
rates, wage benchmarks, or promised results. Replace them with your own
figures before using the workbook to price work.

FILES
01-estimate.csv Estimate labor, direct costs, overhead, contingency and price.
02-actual.csv Record what the completed job actually cost and what you charged.
03-variance.csv Compare estimate with actual and identify profit leakage.
04-labor.csv Break labor down by role, hours and loaded hourly cost.

HOW TO USE IT
1. Copy the workbook files into your spreadsheet application.
2. Replace the sample rows in 01-estimate.csv with your own estimate.
3. Keep the category labels so 03-variance.csv still lines up.
4. After the job, replace the sample rows in 02-actual.csv with actual costs.
5. Use 03-variance.csv to see which category moved and by how much.
6. Update the next estimate using the variance, not a guess.

FORMULAS USED
True job cost = loaded labor + nonlabor direct costs + allocated overhead + contingency
Minimum price before tax = true job cost / (1 - target margin - payment processing rate)
Expected profit = price before tax - payment processing fee - true job cost
Profit leakage = expected profit - actual profit at the same selling price

SECURITY AND PRIVACY
The workbook is a static download. It does not contain your data, does not
ask for an email address, and does not send anything to QuoteFormula. Opening
CSV files from other people can execute spreadsheet formulas. QuoteFormula
prefixes formula-leading cells in its own exports, but this static sample
workbook contains no user-entered text. Treat any edited workbook you receive
from someone else with the same caution.
